Winter Yin Immersion is held in stunning Nozawa Onsen, Japan
We chose to run this training in deep winter on purpose. Winter is the most yin season in Chinese medicine, the time to slow down, turn inward, and let the body rest. The snow, the quiet, and the warmth of the onsen each evening let you feel yin the way it was always meant to be felt.
Nozawa Onsen is a 1,000-year-old hot spring village in the Japanese Alps. In December, the first snow is falling and the village is quiet before ski season peaks. Shizen studio sits in a peaceful pocket of the village, tatami floors and a wall of windows facing the mountains.
The village is built around its hot springs. Thirteen public bathhouses sit between the streets, all free to enter, all heated by natural spring water. After a full day of training, a soak is the simplest way to release your body and settle your nervous system before the next morning.
Daily rhythm
Our days begin around 7:30am and conclude around 6pm. Each day includes a generous 2-hour lunch break, plenty of time to wander, savour the local food, or soak in the onsens. Plus shorter breaks are woven throughout the day to give you time to reset and refuel.
On Day 5 there is an optional Snow Monkey Tour, where you can watch wild macaques bathing in the hot springs nearby.
We cannot wait to welcome you to the calm of Shizen Yoga Studio for a week of deep learning.
